Two Oceans Marathon

Course was changed at the last minute due to riots on the original route resulting in more climb but weather was wet initially, pleased with result
More work needed on pace endurance before Comrades in 7 weeks time, chicked by Rachel (again!)
Loved it! Felt strong throughout, nailed running to effort levels & hydration strategy! Focus on the process not the outcome! For anyone that doesn’t know this is a 35 mile race though it’s called a marathon!
The course was changed the day before to go up over Ou Kaapse Weg instead of Chapman’s Peak due to threat of riots at Hout Bay. Route change made for a much hillier course with a climb of 1000ft in 4.5 miles & for the masses slower anticipated finish times by 20-30 mins by the legend Bruce Fordyce. My A goal if all went to plan was sub 5 to sub 5:15 so really happy with 5:21 after the course change! Also played to my strength of strong finish - was 382nd female in first half and 237th in second half! Just got to keep it going for another 20 miles at Comrades in 7 weeks!
