Run the World’s highest marathon from the Everest Basecamp at 5364m to Namche Bazaar. The route follows rough tracks and trails, travelling through the homeland of the Sherpa people. There is a 500m ascent from Phunki Tenga to Junde before ascending into Namche bazaar. Although mostly downhill, there are many rocky and exposed sections of trail, with snow and ice at the highest level. First held in 2003 for local people, the Mount Everest Marathon now has an international reputation with runners from 20 plus different nations. Runners will be accompanied by expert local guides and a full support crew.
