My 25th marathon in the quest to run 26.2 marathons by age 26.2, and 10th & final for 2018. Having been in ‘off-season’ mode since Chicago in October I just wanted to run a controlled effort and see if I could get under 3:45. The race went brilliantly, two lap course with only a few inclines. Overtook the 3:45 pacer within 10km and then kept catching people for the rest of the way. Got a nasty stitch at 31km which had to be walked off, but recovered without further issues. Had my watch set to clock-face and didn’t know how well I was doing until I crossed the line and saw the time! Incredibly pleased... bring on the last marathon of the challenge at Boston in April!

In short:
Had a really good time in northern Spain. First time in my life where I was in this massive pack of maybe 30 people and going through halfway at 1:19. That was a really cool experience. Felt it at 25k and had to make the hard decision to let them go (but i didn't regret it). Last 5k was brutal as always ;) So 3.5 minute positive split, and 3.5 minute off my PB, but I'll take it! Off to celebrate with Pintxo Bar hoping around San Sebastian. Super cool city!
