In short:
Loving the snaking trail of head torches across the South downs as a few hundred nutters run a marathon well after bedtime! Very enjoyable hilly out and back on the South Downs Way over night. About 3600ft of climb, and it feels like it, with almost no flat. 10 minute PB over last year despite feeling slower was a nice bonus.

In short:
Really enjoyed my first night trail marathon and setting a time that I’m sure I’ll return to beat. Fantastic friendly atmosphere and oh so peaceful out on the South Downs Way

In full:
It seems like the hills aren’t so daunting when you can’t see the top! Rookie error not wearing anything under my head torch, as I now have a pretty sore forehead! After finishing the marathon at 2.20am, I drove back to Dorset, grabbed a couple of hours sleep and then did the trail Invader Half in biblical wind and rain. I’m thinking an ultra may be on the cards soon!
