Lakeland Four Passes

Date:
29/09/2018
Country:
Rosthwaite, Cumbria
An absolute classic 19(ish) mile route taking in four of the Lake District's most scenic valleys and their adjoining passes. The circular route starts and finishes in Rosthwaite, at the southern end of Derwentwater. The first pass takes you to Sty Head Tarn, before dropping to the beautiful but always dramatic Wasdale, with Cumbria's deepest lake. On to Black Sail Pass and Scarth Gap, the easiest ascent of the day. The fourth and final pass is an old miners' path, and is probably the hardest of the day, and will take you to the top of Honisters Pass, before returning to Rosthwaite. The views all day are fantastic... and never forget to look behind, those sights are equally as stunning!
