In short:
First woman + new female course record at the Beachy Head Marathon!

Beachy Head Marathon My first trail marathon and what an absolute treat. A brutal yet beautiful adventure through Sussex’s finest countryside and of course the magnificent Seven Sisters national park at the end. Great mix of woodland, coast and rolling fields with some eye watering ascents and descents. Steps, stiles, gates and sheep - this was a different beast to my usual city marathon. I actually stopped to drink at the drinks stations, took a loo break in a bush and walked (!) some of the hills and endless steps. Bitterly cold but stunningly sunny gorgeous views. I started off grumbling about the very long up hill start but soon got into it at about mile 4. Took my 3 beers before a marathon rule and added half a bottle of red wine which I felt was all going to repeat on me at the top of some of the hills. I felt stronger as it went on which was handy as the hills just kept on coming. Managed to come in 1st woman and broke the female course record. Amazing race - big appreciation to the army of volunteers who braved the cold to make it all happen. Amazing!
